Life Update: Today we ventured to the newly opened

Life Update: Today we ventured to the newly opened children’s museum in town with a friend and the kids had a blast. Did grocery pick up, lunch, and now the kids are napping and I’m sipping on an iced coffee while I take care of some home to-do’s.  Dusty’s schedule is super busy right now - long days and lots of hours…but soon he’ll go back to clinic hours (6 am - 5:30 pm)and will have six weekends off in a row!! We will enjoy feeling somewhat “normal-ish” for a little while anyway. We are hoping to get our bikes tuned up and now that Quinn is big enough we hope to use the rest of this summer and into the fall to do family bike rides. We also just signed Rowan up for fall hockey - HOW do I have a little boy old enough to play mite hockey?  I’m still scouring the internet for homeschool resources and ideas. Rowan is only going to be four years old…so our “homeschool” is really just explore + play based, Bible stories, verse memorization, field trips, lots of reading together, with some letter tracing and simple addition and subtraction mixed in. I’ve been looking into The Good and the Beautiful as a curriculum for pre-k but not sold on it just yet! Mixing that in with other resources I’m finding. There’s a lot out there to weed through! Good news is we don’t need much just yet :)  Praying for and thinking of all of you mom’s and dad’s out there who weren’t planning on homeschooling but perhaps are doing more of it than you ever thought you would this year…try to remember this is just temporary and what a special time you can look back on and remember many years from now <3 hang in there, you’ll do great!

What are your school plans looking like this year?

What are your school plans looking like this year? I know many of you are sitting and waiting to hear what your school district might do…and some of you have already made the decision to do alternative approach to education. It’s not an easy decision whatsoever. I’d love to hear in the comments below what you’re doing or planning to do, resources you’ve found? Please share! It may help a fellow parent out as they navigate this new school year.  As for us, we are gathering ideas and resources to help aid in homeschooling! I plan to start things more “formally” and have our “first day of school” after Labor Day. Yes, it’s a bit intimidating 🤪😬 but also exciting. My husband, Dusty, was homeschooled and had a great experience. It’s something we have always known we wanted to do as a family. Rowan will only be 4 this fall but he is definitely ready for a little (just a little) structure and some more focused learning opportunities and I am eager to test my hand at starting to create an environment at home that will shape his and Quinn’s future years of learning. I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time this fall in the “nature shed” we created this past spring. 💗 #homeschool #homeschooling #homeschoolmom

As we approach our first year of true homeschoolin

As we approach our first year of true homeschooling I’ve been hard at work learning and crafting our family “Why” basically, our mission statement for why we will homeschool our children...and ultimately, I keep coming back to this thought. Our inherent responsibility as parents to teach our children about the Lord. And whether we have the opportunity to homeschool or not...this would and should be our ultimate goal. We spend our lives as parents preparing our children for the “real” world or adulthood to send them out into a world that will be inconsistent, one that will inevitably disappoint them, hurt them, and never be enough to fulfill them... I’m realizing now more than ever the utter importance of preparing them for eternity. Many scoff at Christian families who raise children that veer into rebellious behavior. Children who stray from their faith, who challenge their boundaries and beliefs. I’m sure my babies will have their rebellious moments, I don’t doubt it. But my goal is not to raise perfect children but children who know and love a perfect God. I am excited to be sharing more of our homeschooling journey with you all this year - stay tuned! #whywehomeschool #homeschooling #homeschool
