Brrrr! It’s been a chilly start to fall here in Northern Michigan! It’s feeling a lot more like Thanksgiving than Halloween! With the weather being more chilly than usual I dug out our winter clothes and started to pack away our summer clothes, which felt very premature. I’ve done a pretty good job over the last year or two to really pare down my closet and only purchase and pull in pieces that can be mixed and matched with other items or used to create a layered look.
Last fall and winter I did a blog post series on creating a capsule wardrobe and I thought it went over pretty darn well. Doing the capsule wardrobe definitely set me up for success this fall and as I shuffled through fall and winter clothing things felt a bit more cohesive than they have in the past. I have a really hard time keeping my closet to only “minimal” items (for instance, I tried a 10×10 challenge a while back – and it was super tough) but I can definitely get behind a more carefully curated closet – which is what I’ve been going for these days. Later in the month, I’ll be doing a 10×10 challenge with Amanda Richards from Delightfully Impatient.
If you feel like joining me in trying out the Capsule Wardrobe again this fall – get started by visiting this blog post series.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that my closet has a handful of striped shirts and tops. I especially loved this blouse from Covington & Co. It’ll be a staple layering piece for fall and winter! It’s not as traditional as your black and white stripes (which is what I typically go for) I love the gold stripes and the warmth it adds to a blazer or a jacket!
