Ring Safety: Free Silicone Bands for First Responders

Written by Dusty Collins (Sam’s husband).

This blog post is a collaboration with Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers, located in Marquette, MI.

For the longest time, I’ve been interested in purchasing a silicone wedding band. Since working in the medical field, I’ve heard horror stories about ring safety and the benefits of having a silicone ring.

At first, Sam felt a little offended that I wanted to remove my wedding band we had purchased together. In her mind, wedding bands, of course, have a lot of sentimental value and the thought of me putting it in a drawer in our house and swapping it for a silicone ring made her cringe a little…that was…until she learned about ring safety. We watched this video together – and it was enough to change her mind pretty quickly.

The good news is, Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers has teamed up with Jewelry Innovations, a manufacturer and distributor of fine jewelry – to help first responders stay safe while wearing jewelry on the job. The company is providing  free silicone rings for America’s first responders – along with ring removal tools, instructions, and basic ring safety tips for both on and off the job.

When we heard about this awesome collaboration I talked with Wattsson & Wattsson and they hooked me up with a black silicone band! If you or your significant other is a first responder of some sort, make sure to stop in to or contact Wattsson & Wattsson to see about getting a silicone ring.
