We’ve been soaking up the beach quite a bit these days as the hot weather continues to blaze on in the midwest! Rowan is finally starting to understand how the beach works: get sandy, real sandy, and swim! He isn’t in love with the swimming part, not to mention the Lake Superior water is still a tad chilly…he typically runs along the shore and ends up tripping and falling in…nevertheless, he gets up giggling and continues his dash down the shore.
Rowan tends to wake up around 6:30 a.m. On the weekends, this is the perfect time to pack our beach bag and cooler and head to the beach before the rest of the locals and tourists can make it there. We typically find the beach to be pretty quiet from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Just as we are leaving to head home for Rowan’s lunch and nap, the beach starts to get busy. Most of the time I pack a healthy snack for us. Rowan is in love with fruit lately. He enjoys grapes, blueberries, apple slices, watermelon, bananas, and—of course—cold juice!
Rowan’s absolute favorite juice right now is Mott’s for Tots Organic Apple White Grape Juice which is only available at Target. He loves it! And I do too for many reasons, but mostly because 1) it’s organic, 2) it has 40% less sugar than typical juice drinks, and 3) it’s loaded with vitamins a, c, and e! A guilt-free beverage that both he and I can love. We’ve also been making little juice pops out of the juice. We take little popsicle forms and pour the juice in, then we secure the little top that has the stick attached, and set in the freezer for a handful of hours. If I know we are going to the beach the next day, I make them the night before and have my freezer packs ready. Then I pack everything tight in the cooler so that they stay cold while we head to the beach. Rowan loves them, and I love that there aren’t any added sugars or high-fructose corn syrup, just a deliciously frozen white grape and apple juice blend—they are a great beach treat!
Picnic and get together parties are important for our life. And i am so much excited when ever i hear about picnic or planning for picnic. The relaxation place and just you and your friends and family. Thanks for sharing..
