Word of the Year + Simplify

It seems like such a casual word – simplify. And yet…at times, it’s felt almost unattainable.

My journey to “simplify” started with the need to simplify the bigger picture and the bigger stressors that trickled through the cracks and crevasses of day-to-day life. I quit my full-time job and we adjusted our finances to make it work. You can click here to read more about that decision.

When I think of the word “simplify” I also think of the words “streamline” or “systems” or “organize” or “less”.  I’m making a list of things I want to simplify in 2018 (see bel0w) this list will change and be added to as time goes on…it isn’t set in stone. My goal is to chip away at each area until I’ve created a system that feels right for our family. I’ll be checking in with fellow blog readers and tapping into the advice of others in many of these different areas. One who I love is Emily Ley with the book A Simplified Life.

My simplifying list for 2018:

  • Rooms (drawers, closets, cabinets)
  • Phone apps and photos/videos
  • Computer files (all of the photos)
  • Budget and finances/bill pay
  • Grocery shopping and meal planning
  • Working out and outdoor activity
  • Schedules and calendar sharing
  • Managing to-do lists
  • Purse and backpacks/bags

To be continued…

Make sure to comment or send me a message with anything else you’d like to see on this list, or if there is something I’m not thinking of!
