What is a Capsule Wardrobe?

I’ve been wanting to do a capsule wardrobe for years and it always seemed like time would get away from me and it would never happen. I wanted to start a capsule wardrobe with the hope that it would help simplify my life a little bit more and that it would free up time I end up wasting, staring at a closet full of clothing and yet saying to myself “I have nothing to wear”. Do you ever find yourself saying that? Sure you have a closet full of beautiful clothes but it doesn’t feel cohesive…it feels cluttered, mismatched, and boring. Talk about first world problems…but never-the-less this was something that I noticed was a huge part of the frustration I was feeling when I started my day. And being a new mom (with a new postpartum body to dress) meant double the frustration and even more limited time. On numerous occasions, I’d end up with a pile of clothing at my feet…frustrated that nothing seemed to go together or match…or that things didn’t fit quite right.

What is a Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a collection of clothing that is made up of interchangeable items that maximize the number of outfits that can be created. The goal is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning an excessive amount of items. A capsule wardrobe takes into consideration multiple things such as; basics in neutral colors that can be layered, mixing in accent colors – but not too many – as these will change with each season. The pieces are classic, functional, comfortable, and fit your lifestyle.

Now doesn’t that sound too good to be true?
