Celebrating Father’s Day With Harry’s

Father's Day is right around the corner. This year, the celebration of Father's Day (and Mother's Day) are especially meaningful to Dusty and I. Rowan has brought so much joy to our lives – being parents has been a whole new ball game for us…and while I blog a lot about the trials of motherhood…I fail sometimes to recognize the triumphs of fatherhood and the role Dusty plays in Rowan's life. Quite honestly, I don't even know where to begin. Dusty is simply amazing with Rowan. And Rowan adores him. As soon as Dusty walks in the front door after a long day in the clinic, Rowan's head quickly turns to see him and a few seconds later Rowan has the biggest smile a baby could ever show…he sure loves his dad.

When Rowan was first born, Dusty was the first one to do skin-to-skin with him…it was simply the most surreal and beautiful moment…unfortunately, I missed it because I was getting stitched up after my c-section…but the photos of Rowan looking up into Dusty's face and the calm stillness of the father-son bond that showed between them – it was so very evident. Once we got Rowan home…it was a little tougher for me – just with the recovery and all…Dusty was fantastic and did an amazing job. I remember at one point during pregnancy…I told Dusty "pfft…I've babysat so many babies and kids in my day. And you've barely held a baby – good luck!" well….insert foot in mouth. Dusty new-parented me right under the table those first few weeks – ok…maybe even the first month. When Rowan was inconsolable and fussy and when the witching hour would set in and I would be near tears with exhaustion…Dusty would swoop in and the minute Rowan was in his arms it was as if everything was well again. Rowan would stop crying…and the world just felt calm and right. Dusty has a funny way of making me feel at ease…I think we balance one another well in that way. So it doesn't surprise me that he was able to calm Rowan down most evenings. He also has an uncanny knack of being completely ridiculous – singing, dancing, and being goofy…he's like a big kid himself – and Rowan is especially drawn to that side of him (as am I – I'll admit it…)

While Father's Day is one of those days that recognizes dads…it's also a day for me to marvel at the amazing husband I have – and appreciate the genuine love he has for Rowan. Watching them together and seeing Rowan's face light up when he walks into a room or through the door at the end of the day….there just isn't a whole lot that's sweeter in this world.

A big thank you to Harry's for setting Dusty up with the best Father's Day gift – a custom engraved shave set! In recent years Dusty's "beard" has gone from a young man attempting to grow facial hair…to an "older" man who needs to shave pretty regularly. I still remember when we met and he had the craziest sideburns – haha! If you're looking for a nice gift for your husband or a special man in your life on Father's Day – look no further. I highly recommend the following items from Harry's!

Harry's Winter Winston Shave Set
Harry's Men's Travel Kit

And just a little tip ladies – I often times like to grab Dusty's shave gel and use it on my legs – shhhh don't tell!
