Grand Rapids and Off the Shoulder Tops

As mentioned in my last blog post, we were recently in Grand Rapids, MI for a wedding. Our hotel Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids was amazing, the weather was beautiful, we got to see friends we haven't seen in a long while, I tried a new coffee shop with my friend Andrea that was right across the street from our hotel and enjoyed walking around downtown. Grand Rapids is definitely on the top of my "cities I love" list (along with Charleston, SC – which, Andrea and are planning to visit together in September – eeek – more to come on that at a later date). I also tried my first ever matcha latte, which was good….but not great. I don't think I'd get it again unless I was absolutely in the mood for it. I think for now I'll stick to my vanilla or lavender lattes. I would describe the matcha latte as a "grassy" or "earthy" flavored beverage. The coffee shop we stopped at was Ferris Coffe & Nut in GR, I think it is rather new and it has the most adorable interior. I am a huge fan of white, bright, natural light/big windowed rooms and this place screamed all of that…and more (I mean, look at those faux marble floors!) If you're a restaurant business I highly recommend leaning toward a natural/neutral interior with a lot of white – it's a bloggers dream come true – and they'll Instagram/photograph the SH*t out of it – and then post on Facebook/Instagram – weird, I know, but it's true. The barista guys (is that proper terminology? barista men? barista dudes? just baristas?) they didn't mind that two strange girls walked in and started taking photos of one another drinking their lattes – hah! They must get it a lot πŸ™‚ they also offered to make me a new latte since I didn't LOVE the matcha…but I declined, no high maintenance here!

I got a lot of compliments on the off the shoulder top I am wearing in this post (I think it is actually a dress – but I wore it as a blouse/tunic). My new post-baby curves and body are still navigating the fashion world…but I'm embracing it.

I love reading your blog. I especially like the comment about embracing your post baby body. I know I struggled with this concept after I had my son. But once I started dressing the body I had I felt great. It took a little while but I got there and I am sure you will as well, good luck!
