Fitting Room Style: Gap Fall 2015

We had a pretty great Labor Day weekend and I hope you all did as well! Dusty and I took a day trip to Grand Rapids, MI (photos and mini blog post recap coming soon) and we spent time with friends tubing down a river and having a BBQ! Dusty started studying again on Monday, so with the day off I decided to hit up a few of my favorite shops to check out their new fall items. Gap was one of the first on my list and I love love loved almost everything they had! And so here I am, shamelessly bringing to you a Gap Fitting Room Style post that I hope serves you well if you are a Gap fan! Gap is also doing a 40% off Labor Day Sale (may still be active too) And I hope you love some of the pieces as much as I did and for your convenience I've included links in the blog post to each item as well as my personal assessment/score on a 0-10 scale! So shop, shop, shop away!

For your online shopping needs I am 5' 7" about 135lbs – typically a size 6/8 unless otherwise noted 🙂

Disclaimer, they had a terribly dirty smudgy mirror in this fitting room…so the photos have some "specks" on them…looks like I need to bring Windex wipes with me next time 😛

Stripe Pleated Fit & Flare Dress
Score: 9.5 out of 10

Gap is saying this dress is marked down from $79 to $49 so…..go go go go go while it still lasts! I can't say enough good and positive things about this dress! This dress is made of a heavier material that makes everything comfortable and secure, the length of the skirt is on point, the fit of it and the way it hangs around the hips…amazing…I also love the sleeve and how they aren't cap sleeves like most dresses in this style are…and lets talk about the modest but lovely V-neck!!! Goodness gracious, and to top it off it zips up the back…and that's not all folks…it comes in black! This color is navy and white, although it is hard to tell in the photo. So, if you need to update that little black dress in your warddrobe, keep scrolling.

Sleeveless Fit & Flare Dress
Score: 6 out of 10
This lovely little red cotton dress was extremely comfortable! Again, Gap got it right with the "thicker" material…which allows you to feel confident that the material won't be see-thru. I really liked the cut of the top around the arms/neck. The only part that left me a tad unimpressed was the slouchyness around the mid section…there seemed to be a little too much material for my liking. I feel like someone who wears a smaller size could find this to be a great fit!

Sherpa Lined Parka
Score: 9 out of 10

This jacket is the bomb. The fur isn't overbearing on the hood, which is fantastic, sometimes when I try on jackets with fur on the hood I feel like I am hauling around a small animal on my shoulders, but not the case here, the fur is discrete enough that it doesn't get in the way. The charcoal color is amazing, and the length is superb. It has ties in the waist and along the hem for sinching as you need. The part that makes this coat a home run is the fact that it has a warm sherpa liner inside that can be removed for warmer fall days and then re-zipped in for cooler winter days – genius!

Shaker Stitch Sweater
Score: 10 out of 10

I am always on the look out for a nice cream colored sweater that fits just right, not too baggy and not too tight…and this is it. Not sure what else to tell you other than you'd love it for yourself!

Stripe Gwen Top
Score: 10 out of 10

Again, Gap provided a lot of 10's for me this fall. This top, let us just talk about the sleeve length…perfection! I loved the warm pink hue of the stripes and it is extremely comfortable, the material is nice and heavy (in a good way) leaving it not too sheer…which I find is true for most Gap clothing and I like that – a lot!

Peplum Tee
Score: 10 out of 10

I know I know…why even have a score when so many are 10 out of 10…but I have to be honest! (p.s. their mirrors were pretty dirty…that is not fuzz on the shirt) I love that this top was super comfortable and the fit was spot on…but it also looks dressy! Winner!

Chunky Knit Open Front Cardigan
Score: 5.5 out of 10

This is a nice cardigan…not amazing, but not terrible. It feels comfortable like the type of cardigan I'd want to throw on in the a.m. before pouring a cup of coffee and sitting down to read or check my email. Super cozy, very comfortable!

Moto Sweater Jacket
Score: 8.5 out of 10

This sweater jacket is wonderful! The zipper and cowel neck create an alusion that the sweater is different as you zip it up or down or leave it open, which I loved. It was cozy, comfortable and super cute!

Solid Tencel Tunic
Score: 4 out of 10

I like this tunic. But it wasn't a favorite. Maybe I needed to size down a bit as it felt a sort of baggy. However, the material was extremely comfortable and that in and of itself was enough to push me to consider purchasing it!

1969 Tencel Denim Indigo Circle Skirt
Score: 6 out of 10

Cute skirt! I am not a huge fan of denim skirts but this one in particular felt more flattering than others I have tried on. I am not 100% sure how well it will transition in to fall, but if you live in a place where warm climates are still lingering until at least the end of September it may be a winner for your wardrobe!
