Our Dwelling: The Kitchen

As part of the Home Tour Series, over time…I will share little nooks of our home when they look presentable…which is rare. As mentioned in prior posts…our home is an old cape cod style …it is small…two bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, dining space and living space (sort of blended in to one), a huge basement and a huge attic – great for storage…or as Dusty would say, two great places to store my boxes of old Barbies, dolls, stuffed animals and Dr. Seuss books.

What I love most about our little kitchen is that its really bright…the house has lots of windows which makes for great lighting at all hours of the day. The walls are a white/cream color which also help brighten things up. My time in the kitchen is probably my favorite…my dad, brother and husband created a prepping station/island for me….and its on wheels! Can someone say more counter space? Hallelujah! I can roll the prepping station around the small kitchen space as needed…stationed next to it is a small stool I picked up from a garage sale. I use the stool to sit and chop veggies or read a new recipe. Everything about the kitchen is wonderful in my eyes…small yes…but inviting and cozy…providing me the best space to concoct some great meals!

If someone asked me what my style was…I would really have no clue how to describe it…I tend to just gravitate toward what I like…which can be a multitude of things. I like a country home sort of vibe but I also like modern mixed with vintage/antiques…I like to keep it classy but not stuffy…I guess you could say my style is yet to be defined!

What do you love about your kitchen?

Samantha, I love your little kitchen! It’s so bright and fresh. I have very little counter space as well and am on the lookout for a cart on wheels. Yours is perfect! I also adore the kelly green door. Perfect pop of color! Thanks for sharing your lovely home.

Thank you Lauren! Appreciate the kind words 🙂 The tall cabinet was found at a local antique shop – believe it or not! It has been our favorite piece in every place we have lived thus far…which is only 2 places. haha!

We have been renting our house – but when we first moved here from Canada I knew I wanted a nice kitchen so we could entertain people. Our last apartment was old, dated and just gross everywhere.

This one has really beautiful cabinetry, nice granite counter tops, the large windows allows so much sunlight in, and even the flooring is nice. I have no idea if it’s wood, or laminate – but it’s a rustic grey colour. Sometimes I take my blog photos on the floor since it’s so pretty! I don’t ever want to move out, hahaa.

  6. You have a really pretty kitchen. I’d love to have mine redone some day soon. And, you have lots of room and lots of light there. Mine is small and a bit dark. That’s ok, I still make amazing food in it.

You made a relatively small space so functional and stylish! My hubby and I spend a ton of time in the kitchen so we like it to look nice but it needs to be a space that we can move around in efficiently. Looks like you have a great spot!
